EU calls for tenders to address the evolution of EGNSS

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG-DEFIS) has issued a call for participation to Tender for a contract to deal with how the long-term evolution of European GNSS (EGNSS) might be beneficial for innovative demanding applications. The new contract shall assess the feasibility of an integrity service complementing EGNSS High Accuracy within the 2030+ timeframe.

The new contract will feed into the evolving needs of demanding new applications without disrupting the present business models of established service providers. This action serves to assess the respective merits of varied directions for the Galileo and EGNOS services to evolve and to create roadmaps of the steps needed before operational introduction of such new services.

Emerging/Next-generation applications would require more demanding positioning solutions to be ready to offer innovative services within the future. A webinar to explain the framework and objectives of the procurement and the different tasks in the procurement is planned for 23 September, 2020 at 16:00 CEST. Interested candidates can register here.
