Maxar, Arlula, & Consilium Technology present Maxar Spatial Challenge

Maxar, Arlula and Consilium Technology jointly present the Maxar Spatial Challenge. The challenge is aimed at promoting the value of space, identify and support key innovators, and develop sustainable solutions which can be scaled and used in the future at both national and regional level. 

Free training and access to Maxar platforms, tools and satellite imagery will be made available to all the participants.

The challenge constitutes of 3 phases:

Phase 1

The participants have the choice to select their challenge. They can also self-propose a challenge and enclose the details in the application form. Anyone and everyone is eligible to apply for the challenge. Group size is limited to max 6 members per group.

The deadline for registration is 12:00 pm EST, August 21, 2020. All shortlisted submissions will be notified via email. Maxar will provide access to all the participating team to the following product platforms:

Platform

  • A-Wave platform – an Earth Intelligence alert system for near real time multisource monitoring of the physical world.
  • GBDX Notebooks – Developers with an understanding of Python can take advantage of this platform allowing for algorithmic analysis of 30cm data.

Data

  • HD imagery – Maxar’s 30cm native resolution imagery processed in a manner to improve the visual clarity of the imagery to give it a 15cm processed resolution. 
  • Participants can use other sources of data to assist in their challenge so long as they have the necessary permission.

Phase 2

All registered participants will receive an email one-week before training sessions begin. These sessions will demonstrate how participants can utilize the resources provided by Maxar.

Phase 3

In phase 3, participants can commence work on their analysis and final submission of their challenge after completing training & the provision of the data.

Support will be provided by Maxar throughout the challenge and a review assessment will also be conducted with all the participants halfway through the challenge. All registered participants will have approximately six weeks to submit their work. Final deadline for submissions is 11:59 pm EST, November 9, 2020.
