An email was sent by TerrAvion CEO Robert Morris to the customers stating that the company was closed effective September 4, 2020. AGPRO quoted Morris’s statement which said that if one is a client, he strongly recommends downloading a copy of any data they have licensed and wish to retain immediately, as they do not know how long their infrastructure will remain active.

He added that they wanted to give everyone more of a heads-up sooner, but they were working and hoping to avoid this until just hours ago. He concluded the statement by saying that TerrAvion blazed a path that others can and will follow. They hope that the industry will invest more decisively in whoever comes next, as someone surely will.

As per the corporate website it had collected imagery on 24,424,854,474 acres and delivered about 5 million maps. It prided itself on overnight delivery, cloud-free imagery and being rock bottom cost provider for a high-resolution product. The main product was called OverView, which supplied images of crop through the whole season. TerrAvion’s sole focus was to serve the agriculture industry.
