What are The Top 5 Uses of LiDAR

Among the various uses of LiDAR, some of them are those which rely completely on LiDAR.

What are The Top 5 Uses of LiDAR

Light Detection and Ranging, LiDAR works on the basic principle of Remote sensing, that is the use of sensors to capture information and recording the things that cannot be measured accurately by physical means. LiDAR scanning is sometimes also referred to as active laser scanning that maps structures, vegetation cover, and many other things of the physical world. LiDAR system determines the heights of objects present on the ground with the help of a laser, a GPS and an IMU.

Since LiDAR is one of the active remote sensing systems, it does not rely upon outer sources of energy. It generates energy in the form of the light that is emitted from a rapidly firing laser. This light beam travels towards the ground and reflects off various structures present there. The LiDAR sensor records this reflected energy and also measures the time taken by the emitted light to travel to the ground and back.
