What is BVLOS and Why is it Important for the Drone Industry?

Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) is a pivotal aspect in the drone industry. VLOS flights are dependant and operated within the pilot’s line of sight. But BVLOS allows Drones to fly beyond visual range. Drones can cover far distances with BVLOS flights at cheaper rates than manned helicopters and airplanes. It has been designed to track large areas in infrastructure inventory.

Many companies are adopting this technique for better drone functioning. It facilitates smooth functioning in complex operations. No human interference is required for drones to fly in BVLOS flights. Once the info is transmitted via a telemetry link, it then informs operators about its position, speed, direction and altitude.

UAVs flying BVLOS can change flight parameters and control sensors to collect data. Special training is provided to pilots to fly drones BVLOS. Despite these benefits, BVLOS flights are still not considered legal in countries like the United States.
